Lumi is an animated mascot designed to support children aged 9–14 while learning math, using clear and expressive emotions to guide them through different moments of the process.

The animation focuses on clarity and restraint — subtle movements, clean loops, and a friendly pace that supports attention rather than distracts from it.

Design considerations:

Soft, non-intrusive emotions
Loopable motion for repeated interactions
Limited gestures to maintain focus
Calm, age-appropriate pacing
Character System
A modular character setup.
From idea to motion
Exploring how a single emotion evolves through sketch, design, and animation.
In context
Examples of how Lumi supports users during different moments of interaction.
Lumi was created as a calm and supportive character, designed to make learning moments feel a little easier and more human.
This project explores how subtle motion and emotional nuance can help guide attention without overwhelming the experience.
